Yay, I've been wanting to see the illustrations! They've made me even more curious about the book, though. That Shuuei/Shusui pic – did she try to stab him or something?? Also, is that a guqin in the picture of Ryuuki and Ou Ki? Ever since it was mentioned, I've been wondering if Ryuuki would learn to play it. I think it's hardly fair to judge his fitness for kingship based on that, though; it's not his fault if nobody ever bothered to teach him. Unless members of the Shi family are supposed to magically be able to play it without being taught or something.
You're thinking about this, but don't worry, Ou Ki has much more rational reasons for not supporting Ryuuki as king than his inability to play a musical instrument. -_-
I know Ou Ki doesn't put much stock in superstition, but other people might take it as a sign that Ryuuki isn't a true king, like they did with the locusts. …But I guess that doesn't matter if no one else is present, as it appears. *goes off to reread Ou Ki & Son Ryouou scene*
Didn't Son Ryouou comment on the fact that Ryuuki couldn't play the guqin in one of the previous books when Ou Ki was playing it? Or am I remembering it wrong?

Thank you! The pics are beautiful! Looks like there is more Shuuei and Shusui's romantic development

Yeah, she did.
It is a guqin, but who said anything about judging Ryuuki's fitness for kingship based on that? >_>

Ha, yes. I guess we can discuss this more when I translate chapter five.
